Spring is finally here! I think I can speak for most of us and say that warmer temperatures, budding trees, green grass and the sunshine is a welcome friend after the long winter we all just endured. I can’t remember a year where I yearned for spring to come quite like I did this year. While I love the four seasons we get to experience living in the Midwest, I have to admit I was pretty envious these past few months of my family and friends who live in warmer climates.
With spring comes the desire to get out and explore the city more. Dog parks, trails, outdoor patios and parks are bustling with people, and I can’t wait to be part of it. Gardens and seedlings are being prepped, and for those of us without a green thumb, the local farmers markets around town are the perfect place to pick up fresh produce and support local farmers and growers. It all sounds glorious to me right now, as I am guessing many of you can relate to how ready I am to thoroughly enjoy this season.
For our April issue, we wanted to feature some of our favorite things about the changing season: being outdoors, fresh food and flowers. We have some delicious recipes provided to you by a Lee’s Summit food blogger using fresh, local ingredients. We also wanted to share some of our favorite outdoor Lee’s Summit spots to soak up the sun and enjoy nature. Lastly, you will find tips on arranging fresh cut flowers, decorating outdoor living spaces, and finding eco-friendly products.
