Former School Principals Now Serving in Real Estate
For Realtors Ann and Jon Pye, the transition from public education to serving the public’s real estate needs was a natural shift. This couple started serving in real estate two years ago but joined the Midwest Heritage Homes Team two months ago, after enjoying multiple years as elementary school principals in Independence, Missouri.
“In both occupations you come from a position of service,” says Ann Pye. “The question is always, ‘How can I help you to make your life better?’ As principals, we always tried to put ourselves into the other person’s shoes. To gain understanding of a person’s wants allows us to understand what motivates our buyers or sellers in real estate.”
Ann says that she and Jon joined the team owned by Willy and Stacy Nelson at Midwest Heritage Homes because the same “coming from service” philosophy is one of their bedrock beliefs. Midwest Heritage Homes, a real estate team with Keller Williams Platinum Partners in Lee’s Summit, is known for its motto, “From lots to luxury and everything in between.” Nelson notes that it is also known for its five-star level of service, awarded multiple years by a local publication.
“In addition to our team handling all types of real estate–buying, selling and investing– one division of our team helps transitioning clients as they right-size.” says Co-Owner Stacy Nelson, who with her husband, Willy Nelson, Jr., holds the national designation, Certified Senior Housing Professional. Nelson, who has worked with seniors since 2002 and sits on the board of the Jackson County Professionals in Aging, has been described as a leading authority on issues related to downsizing, late-life relocation, and (55+) senior living solutions. The Midwest Heritage Homes Team is also known for the free education it offers in the metro area.
Willy and Stacy Nelson are enthusiastic about the addition of Team Pye to the Midwest Heritage Homes Team. Willy first met Ann while in a co-op transaction and noticed her dedication to service and detail. The Nelsons also noticed how the Pyes got involved in the Keller Williams Platinum Partners office, so when the Pyes asked about interviewing to join the team, the Nelsons were thrilled. It has proven to be a great match.
Not only do the Pyes serve at the office, they also serve the residents of Lee’s Summit. One way they are doing this is by serving on the promotional committee for Downtown Lee’s Summit.
“We are vested in the future of our community,” Ann says. “We want to help support our community’s growth and also work with the community members who take action in showing pride in our community.”
While working in education, the Pyes were trained to have the mindset of serving their students, staff, and parents and strengthening their relationships within the community.
“This same mindset transfers to our new clients in real estate,” Jon says. “Our goal is to not only meet the needs and wants of the client but to set a premier standard of customer service of satisfaction. Our clients become our friends and family not only through a professional relationship, but through a personal lifelong relationship. It’s immensely gratifying when a client tells you that you will not only be their realtor for life, you will also be their friend for life.”
Ann says that being invited to current and former clients’ family occasions such as weddings, funerals, and christenings is an honor that they cherish.
As a blended family with four adult children and six grandchildren, the Pyes say that working with the Midwest Heritage Homes Team allows them to enjoy their family while working with people who are also dedicated to their respective families. Ann says that she and Jon have a working relationship based upon the tenets they foster in their personal relationship.
“We enjoy the competitive spirit we bring to each other’s life,” Ann says. “We are blessed with wonderful families and friends, love and respect for each other,
and God’s presence in our lives. A coworker once told us that we bring smiles to the office and laughter to their hearts. That made us feel good.”
Jon adds that their goal is to help make the Midwest Heritage Homes Team the best real estate team in Missouri and Kansas.
“The genuine five-star service that future clients will receive from us is only a phone call away,” they say. “The great customer service we gave everyone while we were principals awaits them when they choose the Midwest Heritage Homes Team to serve them in reaching their buying, selling and investing real estate needs. Nothing is more satisfying than finding our clients the home or investment property of their dreams.”
