Lee’s Summit West Volleyball to Host Dig for the Cure
The Lee’s Summit community has diligently supported the fight against cancer, and this year, the Lee’s Summit West Titan volleyball team will host its 10th Annual Dig For The Cure event October 9 to continue the battle against all cancers. Together with Lee’s Summit North and Lee’s Summit West high schools and community sponsors, the event will benefit Turning Point: The Center for Hope and Healing, Bags of Fun Kansas City and the Children’s Mercy Hospital Facility Dog Program/Canine Assistants Inc. This milestone year will transform the Lee’s Summit West fieldhouse into a high-energy revved up volleyball arena and provide a great setting for local high school teams to work together to make a statement against cancer.
The event will celebrate cancer survivors and fighters as well as honor the memory of those lost to this horrible disease in a procession onto the court to recognize each person’s journey. All cancer survivors and fighters are welcome to join the procession. Event T-shirts are $10 before the event and will be sold at Hy-Vee on Third Street and Ward Road on Sept 17 and 23; volleyball players are taking preorders.
The event will feature a raffle/silent auction with items such as a Dig for the Cure quilt; Royals signed authenticated items, including an Eric Hosmer 2016 All-Star Game signed ball, Salvador Perez 2016 All-Star Game signed ball, Eric Hosmer signed bat, Alex Gordon game-used signed bat and Danny Duffy signed hat; Chiefs items; and Sporting KC items. All items are authenticated. A John Deere riding lawn mower and several themed raffle baskets will be part of the silent auction/raffle the night of the event. Please join to make a statement against cancer.
