Costumes by Sarah Lodge
The enjoyment of dressing up in a costume goes beyond just Halloween. They can turn parties in to a magical experience of fantasy and make-believe. Themed Parties, such as this literature-based “Wild Things” celebration can easily create a charming atmosphere for guests with just a few simple props, costumes and a creative food spread.
This award-winning story by author, Maurice Sendak, of an imaginative and adventurous boy named Max, who escapes his room through a fantasy of traveling to a far away land to become King of the Wild Things, comes to life at this dress-up party.
Along with the extravagant hand-made “Wild Things” costumes created by Sarah Lodge, she mixes in a few store bought costume pieces for the kids, but adds a personal touch by embellishing with fur, textured fabric and costume accents. She turns an old sweatshirt in to a last minute bear costume by attaching textured fabric to the sweatshirt and layers it with white fur for an added design touch. Simply adding a tail and face paint completes the look for these very simple costume pieces.
A pretty table spread to tie in the theme helps create a cohesive party atmosphere. These treats were handcrafted and made by Cami’s Cakes + Coffee. Her artistic flair and creative, yet elegant designs made this table not only delicious but also beautiful.
